Students have access to a well stocked library containing books, periodicals and other resources necessary to support their coursework, research and personal development. Founded in 1948, the library stocks over 400 000 volumes and 51,123 titles. It also houses a collection of rare publication. All resources are listed on a computerized library catalogue.
The ISLU library has two reading rooms and 4 language centres. The reading rooms are accessible from 8.30 till 19.00 hrs on weekdays and from 9.00 till 18.00 hrs on Saturdays. PC's in the reading rooms are freely available for word processing, Internet use and consulting of CD-ROM. The library is meant to be a ready reference library. It therefore provides seating for 300 persons and open shelves. In order to make use of the library facilities, however, the students must have a library pass (to be applied for at the beginning of the academic year).
There are 5 computer rooms (60 computers), PC's are freely available for word processing, Internet use and consulting of CD-ROM.
Upon arrival all exchange students receive a free e-mail address from the International Relations Office for use during their stay. Messages and important information about activities, jobs, course information, visits, etc. from the International Relations Office is spread easily by means of the exchange students mailing list. Students who want to send a message to all exchange students can use this mailing list as well by sending their message to the International Relations Office.
The university restaurant and cafeteria are open on weekdays.
The restaurant serves a large choice of cold and hot two-course lunches and snacks at prices between 0.5 € and 2.00 €. Sandwiches are available at the cafeteria during the day.
During the academic year the cafeteria is open from 10.00 a.m. till 5.00 p.m.
The cafeteria is open from 8.30 a.m. till 7.00 p.m.
During holidays there are reduced opening hours.
The Fitness suite is an excellent facility packed with modern equipment including treadmills, bikes, boxing equipment, up to date weight machines and a full range of free weights.
The fitness suite is open 2 times a day giving a good variety of times for both staff and students to make use of the facility. Our qualified instructors are on hand to provide you with an individual fitness programme or you can train on your own after you have had a full induction from our staff.
If the gym is free from physical training lessons, students can use it for playing basketball or volleyball.
